The United Firefighters Union's Victoria Branch has created a new
website to enable the

public to pass on their thanks to the state's firefighters who worked so hard to protect those threatened by the weekend's bushfires.
Victorians can now send their personal messages and thanks to firefighters at
thankyoufiries.comThis site is an initiative of the United Firefighters Union (UFU).
UFU State Secretary Peter Marshall says all Victorians appreciate the efforts of the State’s professional firefighters and volunteers, as well as other emergency services and operational support workers. “This website allows the general public to send a morale-boosting message, and we’ll make sure that these messages reach the crews at the fire front,” says Mr Marshall. “We send positive messages to our athletes when they represent us overseas, so it seemed logical that we have a similar facility for those who’d like to offer a simple 'Thank You' to those fighting the fires."
“With the CFA focused on operational issues, the United Firefighters Union has taken this initiative – both for the firefighters, and to allow a voice to grateful Victorians," says Peter Marshall. “Looking after the welfare of firefighters has been our mission for nearly 100 years. Internet messages of thanks are a modern way of boosting morale at an extraordinary time in this state’s - and the nation’s - history.”
